Augustoberfest Offers Bavarian Food, Festivities and Fun!
Family and friends are invited to celebrate our area's German heritage at the 18th Annual Augustoberfest! City Center Hagerstown will be transformed into a mini Munich, giving guests a taste of authentic Bavarian food, music and various other entertainment.
Attendees of all ages will be treated to a variety of performances, including German dancers, the popular Alphorn music and a German rock band, which will be headlining the event. There are special children's activities planned, including a Punch and Judy Show, which is also a favorite among many adults. Entertainment can be enjoyed while sampling a taste of German food and drink, and craft vendors will have an array of items to browse.
Festivities are held on Saturday, August 24th from 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 25th from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The gates open at 10:30 a.m. each day. The celebration is held under a large tent in the Central Parking Lot, and the show will go on rain or shine. Tickets can be purchased for just $5 at the gate each day, and admission for children 12 and under is free with a paying adult! In addition, guests are invited to join in the Volksmarch, a 10K non-competitive walk through the City on Saturday only at 8:00 a.m. A 6K route is also mapped out for those who would like a shorter distance.
New to the event this year is a German car show held on Sunday by members of the Porsche Club of America's Potomac Region chapter.
This year the City of Hagerstown celebrates the 61st anniversary of our partnership with our sister city, Wesel, Germany. A non-profit organization, the Augustoberfest Charitable Foundation, helps to organize Augustoberfest and supports exchange students from both Hagerstown and Wesel to share cross-cultural experiences.
Also on Saturday, Faire Off the Square will be held in the neighboring Elizabeth Hager Lot from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Take a look at what their vendors have to offer!
