Clothed in Christ is a clothing ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church located at 12043 Old Route 16 in Rouzerville. Gently used clothing is available free for anyone in need. We are open the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A soup luncheon will also be available for shoppers. Stop in and see our selection of spring and summer styles. Spring Cleaning?  Tidying your closets? Donate your used purses and handbags to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church now until the end of April.  Purses may be dropped off on Sunday mornings or during regular office hours, Tuesday & Friday, 10-1, Wednesday and Thursday, 10-4 at the Church office, 18311 Lappans Road.  Follow signs for the Church office and ring the bell for entry. 

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is sponsoring a collection of used purses to benefit Change Purse, a non-profit organization located in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania, dedicated to supporting survivors of Human Trafficking.    The purses will be sold in a one-day sale on May 18 from 9-12 noon.  Change Purse will accept all brands and styles of purses and bags as long as they are currently in style and are in new or like new condition. They must be free from stains, odors, or tears and must have minimal signs of use and wear on both the interior and exterior. If there are any donations that are not able to be sold, they will be given to another charitable venue.  The money raised from the purse sales is given to organizations that provide hope and restoration to women and children who are victims of sexual exploitation.  Three of the faith-based organizations which benefit from the sale of used purse are Shores of Grace,; Exodus Cry,; and Peace Promise

Do you have good books you no longer need? The Franklin County Friends of Legal Services is accepting donations of books from now through April 14 for its 35th Annual Book Sale.

Washington County Free Library’s A Taste of Knowledge Trivia Night Annual Fundraiser 2019 

Washington County Free Library is please to once again host A Taste of Knowledge, this year’s major fundraiser at the Washington County Free Library will take place the evening of Saturday, April 6 at 6:30 PM. A Taste of Knowledge features a trivia contest with teams of up to six people competing for the title ‘Washington County Free Library Trivia Champions 2019.’

Also available that evening will be an opportunity to taste a selection of locally produced beer from Antietam Brewery and local wines paired with delicious hors d’oeuvres from Benny's Pub, and a silent auction throughout the evening. The evening will also feature live music, fun games, and other exciting activities!

Your support of this event help us to provide additional programs at the library. Last year the library offered over 2,800 programs with over 38,000 people attending one or more of those programs. Whether enjoying one of the many concerts, classes, children’s storytimes, book clubs and other programs, or simply as a forum where people could come and sit, talk, and read, our citizens place a great deal of importance on the value of a comfortable public library facility where they can gather to enjoy a variety of cultural experiences.

Hagerstown Parkinson's Support Group is hosting a seminar on April 12, 2019 called “An Educational Program for the Community” to be held at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 108 E. The Washington County Master Gardeners will hold a plant sale on Saturday, April 27, from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center at 7303 Sharpsburg Pike in Boonsboro. The plant sale will feature over 3,000 plants grown by Master Gardeners, a garden market, silent auction, free gardening tips and a children’s area.  Both cash and checks will be accepted and the event will be held rain or shine.   To learn more, call 301-791-1604

AAUW Book Sale

Our annual used book sale and more is coming right up. It will again be held at The ARC of Washington County, 1000 Florida Avenue, Door #4, in Hagerstown. Our book crew spends the year voting and pricing the offerings. Children’s books, best-sellers, hardback and paperback books, non-fiction, how-to, plus CDs, DVDs, jigsaw puzzles and computer games are all offered. Prices start at 50 cents.
Wednesday, May 1, from 5 to 8 p.m., is our Preview Party. For $10 admission you can have first pick of the thousands items for sale.
Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3, the sale runs from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. We try to make the times convenient for everyone, whether you are a parent or work during the day or maybe in the evening, we are open so you can shop.
Saturday, May 4, is bargain bag day. We provide the bags and for $5 you can fill it as full as possible. You can buy as many bags as you like. Even at the end of the sale there are many excellent items left.
Proceeds from the sale go toward scholarships for young women and also for educational programs within the community.
