Patsy Cline Tribute Concert Honors Brunswick's Rich Musical Past
While Benefiting the Community
On Saturday May 31, Patsy Cline fans can once again hear her music at the Brunswick Fire Hall at a special tribute concert performed by Ruthie and the Wranglers. Inspired by Cline's many benefit performances, Brunswick Main Street is hosting a tribute to Patsy Cline that will benefit the Brunswick Food Bank, the Brunswick Fire Department, and Downtown Brunswick's revitalization efforts. "In 1955, Patsy Cline along with Jimmy Dean, Roy Clark, and others gave a benefit performance at the Fire Hall for a 5 year old Brunswick girl who had been badly burned in an accident," explained Vicki Allgaier, one of the event's organizers. "To commemorate this event, we are organizing a tribute to Patsy Cline that not only people can enjoy, but it will help our community." The little girl, for whom the original benefit performance was given, Vicki Stair, still lives in Brunswick and plans on attending the May 31 performance. The benefit concert planned for May 31 includes dinner, a tribute to Patsy Cline by Ruthie and the Wranglers, and dancing and music until 1 a.m. Tickets are $45 a person and $50 at the door, if not previously sold out. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets by phone contact Mary Jo Brown at 301-834-8794 or Robby Simmons at 240-446-1036. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.PatsyClineHonored.com.
