JOIN US - DOUBLEDAY CANNONS ARE ON THE MOVE - SATURDAY, MAY 4 – 10a.m. The 3 Doubleday Cannons are returning to their mounts atop Doubleday Hill via HORSEPOWER! The newly refurbished cannons and carriages will be hitched up and pulled in a wagon train through town for all to see. We urge our Town residents to join in and be part of history as these cannons haven’t been moved by horse for close to 150 years. At the conclusion of the march, the cannons will be permanently mounted at Doubleday Hill. Everyone planning to join the march, please meet at Town Hall by 10a.m. or if you cannot make the march, please meet us at Riverview Cemetery or Doubleday Hill (W. Salisbury Street) about 10:45a.m. to witness the return of the cannons to their permanent place on Doubleday Hill. March Route: North on Conococheague Street then East Potomac Street through Byron Memorial Park, break for water and photos, then to East & West Church Street into Cemetery. You should bring a camera, water and wear good walking shoes.
Afterwards visit the Town Museum Annex in Town Hall, open from Noon – 4p.m. receive a keepsake bracelet, enjoy Town History, local Folklore, WWII Military Wall. Check out Town Center shops. The Town Museum located in the Springfield Farm Barn is only open on Sunday, May 5 from 1-5pm
ON SATURDAY the Museum Ramble will be the Town Museum Annex in Town Hall will be open from 12noon till 4pm AFTER the 3 restored cannons on carriages are pulled through Town to Doubleday Hill for permanent display.
People are invited to join the march to Doubleday Hill, please meet at Town Hall, 2 N. Conococheague St at 10a.m. 6 horses will be pulling the cannons, join me and walk with the cannons to Doubleday Hill.
