Veteran must reside in Washington County

Transportation is for non-emergency purposes only

Veteran must be able to transfer themselves in and out of car

Registration with REACH and Proof of military service required

Veterans residing in Washington County are invited to apply for free transportation to medical appointments. Applications must be made through REACH’s Faith in Action program which, in partnership with The Joint Veterans Council of Washington County (JVC), is offering this service. Funds for this program were provided by the JVC through their fundraisers involving the Glen Miller Orchestra.

This program uses a combination of REACH Faith in Action Volunteers, driving their own vehicles as they presently do. When a volunteer is not available for a request, REACH will arrange for commercial transportation to meet the veteran’s needs.  There will be no cost to the veteran for this transportation if arranged by REACH. For commercial transportation, the veteran is responsible for any gratuity offered to the driver.

This service is restricted to non-emergency transportation to and from medical facilities (including physicians, hospitals, clinics, dentists, optometrists, and physical therapists), within Washington County. For appointments in Martinsburg VA Medical C enter, REACH will arrange for transportation to and from pick-up points for Red Cross, DAV, and VFW vans that transport veterans to the VAMC. Veteran must arrange his own van transport directly with the organization providing the van to and from the VAMC.

Veteran must not require medical assistance while being transported. REACH is not able to transport veterans requiring a wheel-chair lift, or those unable to transfer themselves to and from a car.

REACH Faith in Action is also looking for compassionate people willing to serve as volunteer drivers. Please call 301-733-2371 ext 100 for more information.
